Taye Babeker Tirfea of Ethiopia won the 2014 Oslo Marathon

The Ethiopian long distance runner Taye Babeker Tirfea won this year’s Oslo marathon with the finishing time 2:21.

Taye is an outsider and unknown for most people. However, all his life he has been training and running long distance, especially marathon. He lives in Addis Ababa and usually trains with other runners in the mountain areas around the city.

Taye’s recent marathon performance in other countries are:

  • China in March 2014, result no. 11, time: 2:21
  • Jerusalem in 2012, result no. 5, time: 2:25
  • India in 2012, result no. 19, Time: 2:21

 

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Addis Ababa congratulates Taye on this great achievement.
