In response to the International Committee of the Red Cross( ICRC) Emergency Appeals for 2010, the Government of Norway has allocated ETB 8,6 million to the activities of the organization in Ethiopia.
In Ethiopia, ICRC is working in terms of protection of people displaced after armed conflicts. Where necessary, the delegation, in partnership with the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, steps in to provide displaced families with emergency aid such as basic shelter and household items.
ICRC also helps improve services for physically disabled people. This is done through the provision of staff, funds and materials to seven physical rehabilitation centres.
“Norway is happy to contribute to the important humanitarian work undertaken by ICRC in Ethiopia” says ambassador Jens-Petter Kjemprud.
