Graduation Ceremony for Eritrean Refugees in Adi Haroush

On September 17, the Norwegian Embassy, represented by deputy head of mission Ms. Tove Stub, participated in the graduation ceremony for youth that have completed one year vocational training through the Youth Education Pack in the Adi Haroush Refugee Camp in the Tigray region.


The Youth Education Pack (YEP) is part of the Norwegian Refugee Council’s (NRC) Shire programme for Eritrean refugees and is supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sweden and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees as well as the Ethiopian Authority for Refugees and Returnees Affairs.

The Youth Education Pack offers vocational training as well as training in life skills and functional literacy to young Eritrean refugees living in Adi Haroush and Mai-ini refugee camps located
in Tigray Region, in the north of Ethiopia. The courses range from tailoring and food preparation to furniture making, general construction, metal-work, and electrical and electronics. As part of the graduation ceremony the students also promoted their products.

“This graduation event marks a significant milestone in your lives and might offer you a ticket towards a better future” Ms. Stub said
in her intervention, encouraging the students to use the opportunity.
