Norway Funded Oromia Forested Landscape Program (OFLP) of Ethiopia at COP21, Paris

Last updated: 09.12.2015 // Norway is supporting the Ethiopia REDD + program development. Under this program, Norway is also supporting the REDD + program pilot design in the Oromia regional state, in a way that the carbon credit generated by the program will be purchased by Norway. Oromia region is the size of UK and hosts 60 - 70% of Ethiopia’s forest cover.

The OFLP was presented on COP21 at a side event jointly organized by Ethiopian government, Oromia regional state and the World Bank. The event was officially opened by H.E Ato Zelalem Jemaneh, the Oromia Regional State Vice President and Bureau Head of Agriculture. The OFLP coordinator presented the program.

The following government officials and experts took part in the panel : H.E Ato Zelalem Jemaneh (Vice President ), dr. Yigremachew, Director of Policy and Strategy at Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ato Didha Driba, the Director General for Oromia Forest and Wildlife Enterprise and others. From the Norwegian Embassy in Addis Ababa, Anders Vatn and Lulu Likassa from the climate and forest section took part in the side event meeting.
