Ethiopian REDD + at COP21

Last updated: 03.12.2015 // Last updated: 03.12.2015 // Today December 03 2015 Ethiopia presented the green development path related to REDD+ programme, in a side event at COP 21.

During the event, H.E. Dr. Shiferaw Teklemariam, Minister for the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of Ethiopia, made opening speech. During the speech he stressed that Ethiopia will follow the green development path while growing to become a middle income country. He also mentioned that forestry is the key sector that the government give attention, to achieve the greener development.

The event was facilitated by Anders Vatn, the climate and forest counsellor at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Addis Ababa.

During the side event Ethiopia presented REDD+ readiness achievements and plans. The Ethiopian REDD+ secretariat presented different topics relevant to the REDD+ program. These were the program strategy, safeguard and the readiness process.
