Ambassador Gaarder Accredited to Djibouti

Last updated: 08.04.2015 // Ambassador Andreas Gaarder has presented his credentials to Djibouti’s president HE Ismaïl Omar Guelleh. Norway and Djibouti have a common interest in peace and stability in the region.

The Ambassador is now fully accredited to the Republic of Djibouti.  In his remarks, Ambassador Gaarder emphasized the good relations that exist between Norway and Djibouti.  He expressed appreciation for Djibouti’s contributions to peacekeeping in Somalia.  Norway and Djibouti have a common interest in peace and stability in the Horn of Africa and the wider region.  Therefore, Norway and Djibouti work together against international terrorism and piracy.  President Guelleh gave Ambassador Gaarder a very warm welcome and in his remarks especially stressed Norway’s humanitarian engagement in the region. 

 

During his visit to Djibouti Amb Gaarder also had meetings with Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Speaker of the National Parliament, heads of foreign missions and representatives of the UN organizations.
